The Plano Piranhas is a recreational youth swim team operated by the City of Plano Parks and Recreation Department’s Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center.
We are affiliated with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (www.taaf.com).
- Provide all Piranhas members and their families a “taste” of competitive swimming
- Promote good leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship and respect toward others in practices and competition
- Emphasize stroke technique and conditioning for all Piranhas swimmers
What we do
During the months of June and July, the Plano Piranhas practice Monday – Friday and compete in TAAF swim meets. All swim meets are optional, but we encourage each swimmer to attend at least one.
Piranhas swimmers also have the opportunity to compete in TAAF’s Winter Games of Texas early in January. Winter Games practices will be held in late December and early January each year – see the practice schedule for Winter Games 2017.
Fall Conditioning – NEW!
Practices will only be held once weekly to comply with TAAF eligibility rules.
Practices are on Saturdays only – see the fall practice schedule.
*Registration for first time Piranhas swimmers will open Saturday, August 6th at 8am for Plano residents
Fall/Spring Stroke Clinics
During the fall and spring, our coaches offer Saturday morning stroke clinics. Each Saturday focuses on refining one of the competitive strokes – see the stroke clinic schedule.
